On Wednesday, Red Swing Brewhouse collaborated with Puerto Rico's Dragon Stone Abbey on a saison for the Latino-focused Suave Fest on September 30 in Denver.

We stopped into Red Swing Brewhouse on Wednesday to witness Red Swing’s head brewer Peter Hall and owner Claude Burns brew a collaboration beer with José Ortíz from Dragon Stone Abbey/Brew Taller Experimental (two sister breweries from Río Grande Puerto Rico).
The brewers used José’s saison recipe which included Rye malt from Colorado Malting as well as wheat, flaked oats and a mixed culture yeast. The recipe was similar to Saphira, a saison by Dragon Stone Abbey which was awarded a Silver Medal in the Traditional Saison category at the Women’s International Trophy competition in 2022. The competition takes place annually, rewarding the best beers, wines and spirits from an international field of entrants. The Women’s International Trophy is a unique event in Germany where wines, beers, and spirits from all over the world are tasted by an expert international jury made up entirely of women.
Brew Taller’s Ortíz was in town after brewing another collaboration beer with Launch Pad Brewery up in Denver the day prior.
If you’re interested in trying the result of this collaboration, head to Raices Brewing’s annual Suave Fest on September 30 in Denver. Suave Fest is a bi-annual event that celebrates Latino culture through music, dance, food, and art. The festival brings together people from all over the country to celebrate and appreciate the diverse contributions of the Latino community to the craft beer industry and society as a whole.
This year's Suave Fest promises to be the biggest and best yet, with a larger number of participating Cervecerías from around the country, a diverse lineup of musicians and performers, an array of delicious food and drink options, and a marketplace featuring the work of local Latino artists and artisans.
